Hollywood planes

The following weekend it was time for another National-Park-Trip. Sabine and me caught the earliest Bus from San José to Quepos which is on the West coast of Costa Rica.

It took us about 4 hours to arrive at Quepos where we brought our stuff to our accommodation.

After that we explored the streets of Quepos with all it‘s little shops to arrive at the seaside of the town.

After all that hours travelling there is was nice to see the water even though we were not allowed to go inside the sea at that spot.

In the evening we went to a restaurant which is well-known for its plane. Yes, your read it right, its plane.

And this plane has a special story. The explanation of the plane‘s history can be found in the menu of the restaurant El Avión.

The plane starred both, the real story of the Iran-Contra affair and the movie about it starring Tom Cruise (American Made, released in 2017).

Nowadays you can find a bar inside of it:

But not only the plane, also the wonderful view which you had from the the restaurant‘s terrace was impressive.

Because of the view Sabine and me were not hurrying or feeling the need to go back to the hotel, even if we both were very tired from the long journey.

The next day there was a nice surprise. We planned to visit the National Park of Manual Antonio and went there by bus. It‘s a 20 minutes drive from Quepos.

Arriving at the park we wanted to pay our entrance fee when the cashier just gave us the tickets for free because in Costa Rica it was the National-Park-Day. So we could enjoy the whole National Park without having to pay for it.

Following the different paths of the national park we got to see many different areas.

We started at a humid area which had a narrow forest and a little waterfall at the end of a path with many many steps. Some people were a little bit disappointed that they went all the hilly way to see a rather small waterfall at the end but for me the exhaustion was worth it because the forest itself looks nice and the loud noise of the insects and birds is a nice contrast to German woods.

Going further we came across some stony paths and could see some lizards heating themselves up in the sun.

In the dirt we could also spot some funny coloured crabs.

Making all the way up we finally arrived at the park‘s beach where many people went bathing on that day, so that we decided not to go in there.

We spent some time wandering around before we started our way back to the exit.

And again we had some animals crossing our way.

And some of them were even at the exit.

The national park Manuel Antonio again was very different to the ones I have been to before and was a good experience.

Sabine and me headed back home the next day with lots of funny moments and again maaaaaany mosquito bites as souvenirs.
